Advertising we can say is some kind of communication between someone who has something to offer and someone who likes to buy something or needs something. Mostly it is a message that includes the name of the product or the service someone offers and the benefit these products have to the consumer. Or in other words advertising persuades the customer to buy a particular product or service.
Advertising has developed more and more through the mass production in the late 19th century. A commercial advertiser seeks to generate increased consumption of his products or services through branding.

In-store advertising is in my opinion one of the cheapest way to advertise a product. You can place within your store a product in a certain way that it is eye-catching to your customer or visitor. Eye-catching means in a visible location as eye-level, or the end of an aisle, in your shopping cart, store video displays, near the check-counter and so on. There are lots of possibilities you can advertise a certain product in your store. But this isn’t only valid in your store the same is valid on your website. You have to see your website as your store, your business. In that way it is easier for you to
convert your site in an attraction for your visitor.
But don’t get too excited with your layout of your site. Don’t make it like a fancy exhibition center where you cannot see the merchandize because of your beautiful colors. -I’m just kidding-.
Covert Advertising
What is covert advertising? I think a lot of people don’t realize when they get bombarded with covert advertising. I mean they get bombarded and they don’t realize that what they see is covert advertising.
Do you remember the movies such as James Bond where you could see the emblem of the car he drove, where they showed you constantly the branch of the car? Another good example is Casino Royal, or Blad Runner. Or you might go back to the western movies where you could see constantly the branch of the cigarettes they were smoking in the movie.
There are lots of examples for covert Advertising in our today’s society. Advertising means to get the product or branch branded in the eyes of the movie-goer or consumer and to sell later on. And it sometimes doesn’t matter about the product itself it only matters to sell. But I think you are an advertiser with some sort of ethic, aren’t you?

This is another good or bad way of advertising. Celebrities sell themselves for money, popularity, fame and power to influence people to buy or promote certain products, stores and so on. I would say a negative fact of this advertising is that the celebrities have normally no contact or relationship at all to the product they are advertising. They are only advertising because of their popularity or fame but not because they have tested the product. This can lead to influencing negatively fans and the audience en general. This type of advertising can be bad for the product and or for the celebrity who is advertising the product.

As more and more consumers switch from the traditional Media such as TV, Radio, and Newspaper and so on to the internet, to watch their favorite news, music or videos. The internet also took over like a storm the advertising scene mostly because of the cost of advertising. It is much more economic to place a text-ad, or video ad, or classified ad on the internet than in any other of the traditional advertising media.
The internet has changed the way of advertising tremendously. In general we can say that different types of media can be used to send the message to the people or consumer. You might also remember what influence this cigarette-commercial had on us children.
